HIV Reduction Program

Goals:
- Stem the spread of HIV in Clallam County by changing knowledge of and attitudes about HIV/AIDS
- Change behaviors and practices to reduce the risk of HIV
- Improve the quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS in Clallam County

Activities:
- Free anonymous or confidential HIV testing (OraSure® and OraQuick®) and counseling on-site at FPCC's Port Angeles Clinic, Forks clinic(s), at the Clallam County Juvenile Detention Facility, or during Mobile Day Clinics.
- Individualized HIV prevention education ("A-B-C") during Education Counseling Risk Reduction as part of routine medical care at FPCC.
- Diagnosed HIV clients are referred to the Clallam County HIV/AIDS Case Management Program.
- Special outreach made available to Native Americans, Latinos, homeless youth, incarcerated adolescents, and others seeking family planning services.

3 Year Program Outcomes:
- Clallam County residents will be better educated in the prevention of HIV transmission through abstinence, monogamy, and condoms.
- The health and well-being of individuals diagnosed with HIV will be improved through referral to the Clallam County HIV/AIDS Case Management Program and/or other social service agencies.
- Transmission of HIV will be reduced by residents knowing their HIV status.
- Community awareness of HIV/AIDS will be raised through promotion efforts such as media articles, interviews and advertisements.
